Craniosacral Therapy (CST)
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle technique used to release tightness and tension in the soft tissues surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This is preformed by applying gentle pressure to the skull and sacrum - the poles of where your spinal cord begins and ends.
The goal of CST is to reduce tension in the body as well as the central nervous system. CST can help support flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system removing "blockages" that may cause a decrease of fluid in one area of the nervous system. By helping to establish equilibrium in the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, we can help alleviate pain, relax the body’s fascial system which in turn can help body tissues heal, and in infants help guide cranial bones to their neutral position after birth.
CST therapy can be beneficial when treating the following concerns:
Plagiocephaly (flat spot on skull) or other irregular head shape conditions
Torticollis (one-sided neck tightness)
Nursing / feeding difficulties
Sleeping disturbances
Motor coordination
Tongue, Lip & Cheek ties
Headaches and Migraines
Asymmetrical facial features
