Childbirth Education

Group of women sitting in a row during a prenatal education class

I am passionate about prenatal education because I believe that birth matters. Birth can impact a family in a profound way and is a deeply personal and life changing experience. My goal is to provide expectant parents with the knowledge and strategies necessary to help them prepare for their labour, birth and postpartum experience while recognizing that each couple has their own unique vision.

Through my prenatal education, you should expect to feel confident in your understanding of:

  • Your pelvic floor, core anatomy and physiology and how these relate to birth and what you can do to improve your readiness for labor and childbirth

  • What you can do prior to and during birth to improve the efficacy of your pushing

  • What you can do prior to and during birth to reduce the likelihood and severity of perineal tearing

  • How to adapt this information for a belly (c-section) birth

  • Why pelvic floor relaxation is important for labor and how you can practice relaxation on your own at home

  • Discussion topics to voice with your medical team in preparation for birth

  • Appropriate expectations for your bladder, bowel, and sexual health postpartum

  • Timelines and realistic expectations for safely returning to exercise postpartum

  • Indications that you may need personalized help postpartum and where you can find it

Classes are offered in-person and virtually. Times will be arranged to accommodate the busy schedules of parents and myself.
